A Friend in the Midnight Hour

Midnight Hour

Late in the midnight hour, God will answer our prayer, but we have to keep knocking. In Luke 11:5-13, a friend desperately needs three loaves of bread because of a friend on a journey. The friend in desperate need has nothing to give his friend. So, what does he do? He goes to his other friend and asks for three loaves. At that time of night, the friend doesn't want to be bothered because they're in bed, asleep with their children.

It's believable that the friend will wake up and leave the children asleep to help because they're friends, but that's not true. The friend rises out of his sleep because of his friend's persistent knocking on the door, which is so persistent that it's annoying.

So, what does this parable have concerning the Kingdom of God? If we are consistent in our prayers or if we keep knocking, seeking, and asking. God will answer our prayers. Don't give up on God. Don't be weary in well doing. If those with evil hearts know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

If you or someone is seeking guidance in life, ask the Father for the Holy Spirit. It may not come when you want it, but keep asking. Keep praying and keep knocking. The Holy Spirit will come like a rushing, mighty wind (Acts 2:2).
