ODU Women's Basketball
The ODU Monarchs faced off against the App State Mountaineers on Wed, Jan 14. En'Dya Buford was recognized for reaching 1,000 career points. Coming into this game the ODU Monarchs held a conference record of 2-3. The App State Mountaineers held a conference record of 1-4. ODU leads in the series against the App State Mountaineers.
In the first quarter, App State came out on top by two points. App State shot 35.7 percent from the field. Old Dominion shot 23.1 percent from the field. App State came out on top in the paint scoring four more points than Old Dominion. Old Dominion capitalized on App State's turnovers, scoring five points off turnovers.
Old Dominion applied pressure in the second quarter on defense. In the second quarter, Old Dominion's bench came in and dominated. App State's bench scored three points. Old Dominion's bench scored seven points. As far as in the paint points ODU came out on top in the second quarter.

The Monarchs went on a 7-0 run for 1 minute and 26 seconds in the third quarter. In the paint, ODU scored six points in the paint and the Mountaineers scored two points in the paint. App State made all their free throws in the third quarter, but shot 18 percent from the field. Buford led the Monarchs in scoring with 13 points.
ODU finished with 22 bench points and 13 points from opponent's turnovers. App State had 19 turnovers. Old Dominion had eight turnovers. ODU wins 65-54 against the Mountaineers. The Monarchs face off against Marshall on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 at 2pm for the Anne Donovan Classic.
