In the post-game interview, DeLisha Milton-Jones said, "They did a smart job, their coach made some adjustments to where they got some one-on-one plays with their big girls, diving down to the middle of the floor. Now, that took us (Old Dominion) out of their normal rotation, she was able to have her way with the one-on-one action, I still feel like our discipline in terms of leaving our feet or getting caught going for some of their moves allowed her (Ajae Petty) to return to her dominant hand or the strong shoulder. We gave her that opportunity far too many times."

The third quarter was tight and back-and-forth between the Monarchs and the Buckeyes. Mariah Clayton for the Monarchs scored their first bucket with a layup at the six-minute mark. Then Brenda Fontana followed up with a three-point play by drawing the foul on Jaloni Cambridge. Ajae Petty came back down the court and scored with an assist from Jaloni Cambridge. The Monarchs were putting up a fight to close the gap.

In the final quarter, the Buckeyes held the lead. Ajae Petty found her way to the free-throw line twice. She shot two for four at the free-throw line.
