The Lady Monarchs take the Georgia Southern Eagles down in double overtime. Coming into the matchup, the Eagles were 2-0 in the SBC, and ODU was 0-1 in the SBC. The Monarchs started off the new year with a spark in the first quarter. They finished the first quarter with 22 points, held the Eagles to 14 points, shot 50 percent from the field, 60 percent from behind the arc, and made seven out of 10 free throws. En'Dya Buford obtained a double-double in tonight's game. Buford's stats in tonight's game were 22 points and 10 rebounds. Riley Stack scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Monarchs demolished the Eagles on the boards, out-rebounding the Eagles by 17.

In the second quarter, the Monarchs and Eagles tied in points scored. Georgia Southern was unable to connect from behind the arc in the second quarter, while ODU connected on 1 out of 3 shots from behind the arc.

Going into the third quarter, the Eagles opened up from behind the arc, draining five out of nine three pointers from behind the arc. These three pointers helped Georgia Southern cut into the lead. The Monarchs held the lead for four quarters. Listen to the full play-by-play here.

The double overtime pushed both teams to the maximum. The Monarchs shot better from the field than the Eagles in overtime. They also grabbed ten more rebounds than the Eagles. In the first half, the Eagles scored four more points than the Eagles did in the paint. In the second half, the Monarchs had ten more points than the Eagles in the paint, and in overtime, the Monarchs scored six more points in the paint.
